Posted about 1 month ago Is it The Apple...or it is me? I don't think it's me, because whenever I'm online, none of my frends are here. It's just that I don't find it as interesting as it used to be. (Not to mention the fact that I'm excluded from "who'sgettingthebook" game.) Where's everybody? John? Debo? dhastings? Fer? Teacher411? TT? Mr. Heffner? and many more? Mateja |

| Posted about 1 month ago QUERIDA AMIGA MATEJA: I am asking the same question dear friend, I think it's the Apple, something is wrong with it I can't see my messages and sometimes it's imposible to me to post or make corrections to my profile and to log in is very difficult, you know, the "valid Zip Code" that I don't have because I don't live there in the USA. I always see what is posted in the forum but as it's difficult to log in I just sometimes let it go and don't post. when I read your post I felt as if I'd seen a spring in the desert. Yes, I miss you and the others too. QUE TENGAS UNA LINDA SEMANA. |

| Posted about 1 month ago Many have to work or find work....Retiring, teachers still need to work....it keeps the brain......healthy.....This economy has everyone a little on edge or nervous....So, I guess they are working......plus when everyone was discussing things it was summer.....! Outside of that I am unsure where everyone is...? I am a down to earth person. I love to have friends over and talk about life. I love to cook and have friends over. I enjoy planning weddings and parties. My most favorite thing is to go to the SPA...it is a deal breaker for me |

| Posted about 1 month ago TheApple has evolved. Unfortunately, in the wrong direction. Many "professionals" have been bored by the rather unprofessional types who have emerged and slanted the conversation away from the classroom. TheApple is dying before your eyes, if it hasn't died yet. TheApple was never meant to be what you thought it was. It was never run by teachers for teachers. It was meant to be a business run by managers. Monster bought it thinking that it would help their bottom line. Perhaps. I don't think so. I'd be surprised if it was still online a year from now. Alternatives that you may want to consider are Twitter and Facebook. Several of the folks you mentioned hang out there. |

| Posted about 1 month ago FER, I think you've got my point As MrHeffner put it... /Alternatives that you may want to consider are Twitter and Facebook. Several of the folks you mentioned hang out there./ ...you as well shoul consider using those alternatives. I've been using them for some time now (not so much the first one, although it is really good). MrHeffner, I agree. I was thinking the same way...and you wrote it down. Better. |

| Posted about 1 month ago There are regularly scheduled meetings/discussions on Twitter that are much more professional than discussions on TheApple. The quality of the input as well as the professionalism of the participants is quite evident. You have to look...but, they are there. For example, if you're on Twitter try searching for #edchat.

| Posted about 1 month ago Hey Everyone! Yep...I've been spending a lot of time on FB...doing their mindless games...which, btw, I love...and chatting with fellows from TheApple there. We don't have many interactive conversations on FB...but we do make daily contact (which is a plus). I'd love to be here more often...but here is where I learned what a "troll" is...and frankly, it turned me off. I like to discuss opinions and ideas...and even joke around...but, having everything one says scrutinized and criticized by a stranger...well, it doesn't sit-well....ya know? Don't get me wrong...I know I'm not always "right" and I can take a good lesson...but honestly, that troll was hurting my feelings! (chuckle) I miss you guys too. I'd come here more if ...if....if... heck I dunno...maaaaybe it's just a phase and we'll all return to our conversations later....hope so...cuz you people INSPIRE me! join me in FB...send me a private message and I'll tell you how.... ttfn! ~debo

| Posted about 1 month ago I gravitate toward ideas/discussions that interest me, but it's much more fun with people I like. I like the people on THE APPLE. Twitter feels like an endless ticker tape of news from people I have no connection with because they are all on the floor of the NYSE yelling, "Sell, sell!" and only the insiders are buying. |

| Posted about 1 month ago Yes, Don, you and Joel are both serious thinkers...so am I when the situation calls for it, and when I can find others of like mind...most here are the same...it's part of what makes this a great discussion ground... where are the really good topics? So many of us have varying political views... what about topics that transcend politics?

| Posted about 1 month ago Although I am also on Facebook, I've never really gotten the hang of it. The folks I talk to on Facebook are very varied...some are friends for 40 years, some are former students, some are writers, some are professional speakers, and a few are teachers. As for Twitter, Twitter is what you make of it. If you "follow" a zillion people, you get a constant flow of messages on an infinite variety of topics. Twitter requires selectivity of who you follow. If you follow only those who you seriously want to hear from it is a much better experience. Once you hook up on a particular question, the conversation can be very interesting. TheApple, like many other "forums" has lost it's appeal, I think, because of the variety of reasons why folks are on it. A person in college is interested in getting a job. That is of little interest to a 10 year veteran who has a difficult class to deal with tomorrow. In addition, there are those whose interest in education isn't as clear. They seem to be more interested in the political question of the day. This type of variety isn't the way things seem to go well...at least here. TheApple was never organized by teachers for teachers. It was created by a corporate group for profit. With Monster's influence, that will probably go much further in the future. Good luck to them. As they said in Fiddler on the Roof, about the Czar, may he live happily...far away. Far away from TheApple is where I'm planning to be. Cya on Twitter at @JoelHeffner. |

| Posted 29 days ago But, but, but...Joel....are you sooo selective that you cannot do both? I hate to say "bye-bye" forever 'n' always...yet, if that is the way it goes...then, at least I'm having the opportunity to say good-bye. It's been a real honor and pleasure to have your perspective and insight. And, we've had grrreat conversations! Let your light shine! ~ your ol' discussion pal, ~debo |

| Posted 29 days ago Good to see a familiar picture online, dhastings Twitter feels like an endless ticker tape of news from people I have no connection with because they are all on the floor of the NYSE yelling, "Sell, sell!" and only the insiders are buying. A funny interpretation, do you have one for facebook too?

| Posted 29 days ago I like Facebook because I have found some people from high school etc... What annoys me is when it becomes Racebook: " Oh, I just bought my first BMW in the 700 series! (So much nicer than my other two.) I can't believe I was able to do that while at the same time adopt 12 children from Darfur, get a Doctorate in Hydrodynamic Bipostular Incremental Science and lose 130 pounds on the weekend diet.
or Basebook: I am putting on my socks and now my shoes are tied. I need some milk. Running down to the store. I'm back from the store. I have the milk! |
