We spend a lot of time here on The Apple (and as teachers in general) discussing how parents and teachers and different and brainstorming methods of closing the "Big Divide" between teachers and parents.  Sometimes you will even hear a teacher say to one of their students: "I'm not your parent!" (not the best way to tell a student off - and I'm not even really sure what it is suppose to mean - but I have hear it said before).

I would like to hear some opinions on how parenting and teaching are similar.  I have always thought that the two actions are very, very, very similar to each other.  Granted, of course, there are differences that cannot be denied.  I have one daughter myself who is almost a year and a half and I feel like I am CONSTANTLY teaching her every single second I am breathing.  I love it, I feed on it....it is like I am a teacher 24/7.  Honestly, ladies and gentlemen, as parents aren't we ALL teachers - constantly teaching our children the ways of the world......at least I would hope we always all do this as parents, and teachers at school alike.

Thoughts on the matter?
