Posted 2 months ago Does a teacher who is certified K-8 all subjects required to have a ZA to teach first grade? A ZA is the early childhood endorsement. In many public schools in Michigan they require it for teaching kindergarden. But I want to know is it required to teach 1st grade? |

| Posted 2 months ago I am not sure what a ZA is, could you please explain? I think that if you are certified K-8 you would be certified to teach 1st because it is between k and 8. That just makes logical sense to me, but I have also never heard of a ZA. Every cloud has a silver lining. |

| Posted about 1 month ago From my job search I have learned that it depends on the school district if you need a ZA endorsment. You technically don't need the ZA to teach Kindergraten but almost all schools here in Michigan want you to have it. I have seen some schools require a ZA up to 2nd grade. I did my student teaching in 2nd grade and I do not have a ZA endorsment yet. I am currently trying to figure out how to get my ZA. I have been told by teachers and principals that having your ZA will most definatley help get your foot in the door. It makes you a lot more marketable. |
