I need two things from teachers to make all of the work for teachers.

I have a PhD, went back to school and learned web design and went to the Apple store to learn iWeb and went to your to design my own site after paying webdesigners. You will instantly find one problem. I need pages edited, I am working on that as I create the course and any one who would work with me would be a great blessing.

After checking out ahaafoundation.org if you think I can add information that would be helpful to your students let me know and I will see what I can do.

And please excuse the typing mistakes on the title. Is there any way for me to change the title?

Thanks

So contact me at kbolmanahaa@gmail.com or in Honolulu (808) 941-4242 to talk with me.

I am creating an online course for the teaching of art and architecture in a unique way. This is a stand alone course and a course that will add to history courses on a global basis. If you go to ahaafoundation.org you can check out one or two of the micro-lessons and get back to me. This subject, Art History is left out of most schools and yet it will enrich history, geography and literature courses. What I am producing does not have to be used as a course it can be used as a research resource for other courses. It is question based which provides for lesson plans for teachers. I would like the students to hear the music that would go with the micro lesson they are studying.

What is not easily clear is that I want the students and teachers to make something after they have studied the information in each micro-lesson. I feel that they will get a much better understanding of what they have just learned. Learn something, make something, and make music about the work you have just studied. I think that these micro lessons provide a look into the culture of each society over time. This course is free and I am looking for comments and collaboration.

It is important to me to find a way to let teachers know about the work I am doing as it is not a lesson plan, it is a course. It is not the usual art history course as it works its way around the world. I  would love to have an interested group that will cheer me on and add input or just do something.

I hope you have time to look at ahaafoundation.org which is the art history site.

I look forward to hearing from you.

Warmly,

Katherine Bolman, PhD

Unfortunately, you have selected one of the worst programs to create Web pages. iWebs is not considered to be a serious Web authoring program. I think I've only seen one Web page (ever) that actually used it. Dreamweaver would be a much better choice...although the learning curve will be longer.

What does this mean?

Please explain to me why  you think Dreamweaver is a better program for web pages than iWeb. I really need to have some advice on this idea.

In Web making circles iWebs is considered to be a toy. Dreamweaver is the standard software that is used.

iWebs templates are very graphic oriented. When the site's load they are extremely slow and often appear in stages. Text is a secondary part of iWebs.

Dreamweaver works more like a word processor. You can create each part of the page carefully.

Ask around...not in the Apple store where they will tell you that Pages, Keynote, and iWebs are great...and you'll see that no one uses iWebs...except perhaps kids who are making pages for fun.

Yes, I only use a Mac so it's not because I'm biased against Mac software. [I love my Mac.] I have Pages, Keynote and iWebs. I usually use/test iWebs when a new version comes out...only to dismiss it very quickly.

I worked with dreamweaver before I discovered iWeb. The main problem I had was with their templates which worked some of the time but not all of the time. I found it frustrating that the formatting would just let go.

When iWeb pages get too image heavy I have found that they get slow when I add text. I am very willing to learn. With I web I have been able to add voice over which has been great.

One of my questions about iWeb, which I need to learn, is will the whole site slow down as I add pages?

I respect your input.

Warmly, Katherine

Good evening,

As for  the first question - Can Art History Assist  Students with Understanding Novels? - my answer is yes, but it depends which novel  a student needs to understand.

I understand that it depends on the novel. If a student is reading a novel about Egypt I would like the class to know where they can find pictures about the place where the novel is set as well as using their imagination. If they go to ahaafoundation.org they will be able to see a lot of pictures of temples and tomb walls as well as the writing of Egypt.

Would you send your students to this site in this case?
