Posted 3 months ago I live in a southern state which has no laws governing restraint/seclusion and corporal punishment is legal here. I am really appalled at some of the latest reports I have seen on the news regarding these issues .what do educators think about this? Special ed students seem to be the most vulnerable to some of the problems. |

| Posted 3 months ago It think it's sad indeed that some states seem to prefer the nineteenth (and earlier) century's attitude toward these matters rather than the twenty-first century's. |

| Posted 3 months ago There was a hearing in Washington DC on May 19 held by the U.S. House Ed and Labor committee where a report was issued by the Government Accountability Office concerning restraint and seclusion and abusive practices. I hope there are many good caring educators on this board who will write in to the House Ed and Labor committee on these issues. Tomorrow the ACLU is supposed to be releasing a report on special education as well. |

| Posted 3 months ago NY Times just did an article on the big report released by the ACLU. I am shocked, and amazed that this still goes on. I hope people write to Congress, corporal punishment and abusive practices in all schools need to be abolished IMHO. Write to the U.S. House Ed and Labor Committee. |
