Posted 4 months ago I will be teaching 8th grade history (1492 to Reconstruction), I am very nervous because the test scores are terrible and this will be my first time teaching this subject. I'm looking for some type of 5 minute warm up activity to start each class. Any advice would be appreciated. |

| Posted 2 months ago 10,000 Pyramid - Using a Smartboard, screen, or whatever, list ten words the kids should know. Then seat them in pairs, facing each other so one kid sees the words and the other cannot. Have the kid who can see the words give clues so that his/her parter must guess each word.
Flip card - Each kid gets a card with a question on one side and and answer on the other. Set up the cards so the answers go around the room and come back to the original person.
Place kids into rows and in front of each row, place a list of maybe 8 questions (the same list for each team). Then upon saying "go", the first kid runs up to the his/her team's list and answers one question (one only). He/she runs back to his/her seat and the next kid runs up and attempts to fill in an answer. The kids go in order (and after the last kid in the row goes, its back to the first) until one team answers all of the questions correctly. |
