| Posted 4 months ago There are many men in Mexico that can't stand a successful woman and try to humilate by the only way they can: violence. In poor comunities, they don't want "their women" (that is what they think they are, something to possess) to work because that gives power(money) to them(women), men want their women to be at home so that they control all the power. if a woman work they say that she is humiliating her husband doing that. they they(men) think that people can say that they are not enough MACHO to support their family. Men must support the family, as much as it's possible. There are other men that feel anger, frustration, becuase beautiful girls won't be for them, that makes them hate, insult, or spread rumors about the reputation of women. There other men, with a very poor education and low self-esteem, that think that a woman, any woman, who works and makes good money, is a woman to hate becuase they are doing what they couldn't do. There are others that just hate women because a woman has what they want and can't get: sex. |

| Posted 4 months ago Dear FER, I commend your clarity. I respect your insight. I admire your strength and intelligence. It can't be easy to be a "new world" thinker, in an "old world" society. Mexico needs men like you. This kind of thinking MAKES A DIFFERENCE. A friend of mine who lives on the Baja peninsula wanted my husband and I to move down there....I'll tell you, we were right on the edge of going, "lock-stock-and-barrel" (as they say), and changing our whole lives. I'm so glad we decided otherwise. A woman like myself would, sooner or later, open her mouth and be in deep trouble. I've never lived in an uncivil world. It would never occur to me that I had to be careful of what I said about personal freedoms ~ I would not have understood. The more I talk to you, the more I realize that I haven't a clue how to write that story I began....the one called "The La Luz Trinity" ... I do not have the appropriate amount of fear necessary to comprehend what the women in your society are up against. I cannot imagine being born into a world where a female's opinion counts for nothing, and she might get beaten for even having an opinion. Allow me to repeat myself : Mexico needs men like you.

| Posted 4 months ago Everyday the role of the women in the mexican society is changing. Many women are working and supporting their families. (this is, sometimes, because there is an irresponsable father or there is no father in the family). I see it every day my best students are women, men are lazy, or just they want to pass, they dont' spent time doing homework. Other thing that I see in the classroom is that women work in groups, they help the one don't know. they always do the homework. Most of my adult students are women, they want to reach a higher position in their job. that's why they study, they have to work twice harder(to have a job ) than a man.

| Posted 4 months ago I'm sorry FER, but I've forgotten, what classes do you teach? What is your subject matter? And is this college level coursework? Just wondering. Yes, aren't women wonderful? I like us more every day! (even when we get "headaches"...or give them ~ grin)
