Posted 4 months ago Who has a nickname entirely unrelated to their given name and how did you come by it? |

| Posted 4 months ago I do not have any nicknames that have been shared with me. My sister, though, is called "Sherlock" by a large group of her friends because through high school she carried a large magnifying glass so she could read things (vision problem not correctable by glasses). My first husband's name was Howard William the third, so to avoid having another Howie in the family everyone called him "Mick", I think for a favorite ball player. | Posted 4 months ago When I was a mere lad - back in the dawn of time - I acquired the nickname "Buddy." Perhaps this was because I have the same name as my Dad, which would have made it difficult when people called out "John." Or perhaps it was because I'm such a lovable cuss. Or perhaps both. |
