Posted over 2 years ago I had a teacher who hated the sound of clicking pens. In his thick Boston accent he would yell "STOP CLICKING YOUR PENS!".

Posted over 2 years ago My father is a music teacher of 30 years. He said that listening to trumpeters play as loud as they can directly in his face has made him go deaf. He also teaches K-12 music, so he gets a different variety of interpretation on how an instrument should sound :P

Posted over 2 years ago I can not stand when a student has used all of the eraser on a pencil but still insists on using it. The metal scraping is like fingernails on a chalk board...or a fork scraped on a plate.

Posted over 2 years ago I can't stand the sound of squeking shoes down the hall. When it rains, it gets even worse!

Posted over 2 years ago Ugh. This is an easy one. I'll vote #1 for the old standby of nails on a chalkboard, followed up closely by students saying my name, over, and over, and over, and over.....throughout the day. By the end of the day, I can't even stand the sounds of my own name!

Posted over 2 years ago I always loathed my students making a rhythmic noise with the edge of their nails on the desk to the tune of humming or murmuring popular English or Hindi numbers

Posted over 2 years ago I'm with neesie on this one! After hearing my name repeated thirty times in a period of five minutes, I just about want to change my name, put ear plugs in, or run out of the room screaming. Unfortunately, since all my little ones are three, they'd probably mimic me, which would actually be kinda funny, now that I think about it! ;)

Posted over 2 years ago Hehehe... there's at least one in every classroom! I had one who bust into tears because during the Farmer in the Dell, he was picked as the cheese and not the dog.

Posted over 2 years ago So many of these things are on my list, too, but the ONE most annoying thing for me is what I call "mouth noises!!" The wet, slushy sounds of chewing food or gum...ugh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Posted over 2 years ago Oh where to begin. I'll start with my whiner. In her whiniest baby talk voice, "Ms. Broooossssemmmmerrrrrr, my fingor hoorrrtttsss!" "What's wrong with it?" "It just hooooorrrrtttsssss!" "Well, go get a wet paper towel for your hand" "okay" Drives me crazy!!! It's not so much a noise but an action. I have one boy that picks at his tush 50 times a day. ANNOYING!

Posted over 2 years ago I couldn't stand the old whine, "That's not fair." I would tell my kids, " You're right, the fair's in Dallas" They would stop and actually think about that one.

Posted over 2 years ago neesie said: I once told the class that I had changed my name to "Excuse me, Please" so that they would at least sound polite when they repeated my name again and again. To be honest, they were fabulous kids and it was hands on science, so they were excited.

Posted over 2 years ago Crying. I can't stand crying. There's no crying in my classroom, or I'll declare instant "NAP TIME"!! Everyone put your heads down and go to sleep. There's absolutely no crying unless you are bleeding.

Posted over 2 years ago Too funny! If you don't like your name repeated over and over and over and over.....yeah, you get the picture! Then just CHANGE IT!!! LOL That's what I did....well, in a sense I guess. I told my kids (I teach K-4 technology) that they could call me by my name, or address me as Ed Tech Diva, or better yet -- Ms. Diva! Guess what? I'm now being called 'Ms. Diva', loving every moment of it (who wouldn't?) and I can go home still happily married to my name!

Posted over 2 years ago How about the sound of the jack hammer right outside the classroom window? It's always fun to teach when that's happening!

Posted over 2 years ago I'm with those of you with the name calling...there are some days I think I'll literally scream if I hear my name one more time! Another one is the "sticky keys" function on a keyboard...my classroom is a computer lab. One will start the others will follow.

| Posted about 1 year ago I don't have a student noise, but there is a noise I cannot stand coming from a kids pocket-The ringtone "teenage ears". Apparently, only students are suppose to hear it because the teachers are old, but it literaly goes straight through me. Maybe I am not that old yet or I just know the tricks. idk
Every cloud has a silver lining. |
