Students in major cities in Indonesia are willing to  learn English as their second language. Many "international programs" are now being offered, and  all using English as the medium of communication.

 Dear mat59oke.

Been there, done that, loved it. I taught for ILP (International Language Programs) just outside of Jakarta, for two years (1988 -1990.) My students, however, were government employee college graduates who were going to take the TOEFL exam so as to get admitted to graduate schools in the USA.

Indonesia is a truly lovely land (well, you DO have to like heat and not be over-bothered by insects) and the people are wonderful: friendly, hospitable, and so courteous/helpful.

My time there was delightful.

 ear dhastings,

I did indeed - and I liked it a lot, more that I enjoyed most Saudi music.

I have a few photos of my time there in My Albums

I went to Makassar, Indonesia for knowledge delegation program, last month. It was a very good experience for me. We are currently attaching with University of Negeri Makassar for our next project. :)

Btw, I was informed that there will be CHINA INTERNATIONAL LANGUAGE & CULTURE EXPO 2009 (CILCE) at China National Convention Center in Beijing from 4th November until 8th November 2009. I'm interested to join.

Is there any of u heard about this CILCE?

Sounds lovely but I won't be visiting any time soon.  I don't like heat, insects...or let's say, the threat of tsunamis.
