Posted 10 months ago Hello Teachers! Have you heard about the LEAGUE? The LEAGUE is a school and web-based system for service learning that empowers young people to make a positive difference in their communities. This month, as we honor Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., the LEAGUE is asking you to get your class involved in their latest service learning event, it’s called King Day and it’s a great way to inspire your students to make a difference. King Day is a national LEAGUE event that encourages young people to help others through acts of caring, respect and fairness -- performing good deeds for their community. These acts can be as simple as helping a neighbor carry groceries, spending time visiting with seniors, tutoring a younger student, or making an anonymous donation to a person or organization in need. All acts of caring, respect and kindness do make a difference, so every good deed, large or small counts!
This year, the LEAGUE is also encouraging everyone to share Giving Game Cards. The Giving Game is based on the principle of kindness. Pass along good deeds and share your story with others on the Giving Game site. The game is FREE to play and is a fun way for your students to make the world a better place. For more information please visit www.givinggame.org.
I hope you can join me in supporting The LEAGUE by getting your class involved with King Day 2009. King Day begins January 7th-21st and is open to students in every school nationwide. For more details about The LEAGUE and King Day please visit www.theleague.org.
Thanks for your time!
