Is it just my experience, or does every school basically have teachers that are, how shall I put this nicely...Not so friendly?

I'm afraid so.  I teach at a private Christian school and you would think that it would be the ideal environment for everyone to get along and act civially toward one another.  Not so...we are all still human after all!  I will say that in my experience there are unfriendly people no matter where you go.

Groups of teachers are just like any other unfiltered group of people. By filtered, I mean that there is no way of selecting who is in the group. Some groups are self-filtering, such as members of The Apple; those who don't want to be here aren't, and those who participate choose how often and how they will do so.

I non-filtered groups there are friendly members and unfiriendly members, generous ones and selfish ones, hard workers and slackers, etc.

Unfortunately, yes. Many of them are in cliques, which is worse.

The world is made up of a wide variety of people. You can see that variety just by looking at your students.  And every profession has a selection of those same people.  You will find angels and not-such-angels in any group of people.

Yes.

But I have also found that even these people usually have something to teach me, if only I can get over the rough surface.

I had problems in communicating with the "unfriendly" working mates before. But now I used to it. I want to improve and be positive. I have to believe, things happened for reasons . :)

Would have to agree that there are friendly and unfriend people in almost any workplace....I have been quite surprised at this "new" (almost 1 and a half years now, not totally new) job of mine where there are very few unfriendly people at work......I am actually use to working with a lot more (unfriendly people, that is).
