Michigan lures teachers to inner cities with $16.7M program
Source: Detroit News
Michigan will be one of the first states to participate in a national program that overhauls the training of math and science teachers and encourages them to work in urban schools with the biggest problems.

The article suggests 9,000 teachers will go for this buyout incentive. Supposing an average increase in pension of $500 per month. Times 12 months = $6000 per year. Multiply by 9,000 teachers = $54 million additional drain on our pension fund.
Once again the State of Michigan looks to cure its ills upon the noble backs of Educators and Retired Educators. I have a counter solution. Let the State of Michigan fund the additional $54 million per year and leave our pension fund alone.

Living in the metro Detroit area, I really think we need this. Especially Detroit, whose public schools need a complete makeover! It's nice to finally hear something positive happening in the state's urban areas!
