What Do Good Teachers Need to Know?

The Secretary of Education, Arne Duncan, wants to see “revolutionary” changes made to teacher training programs. How do you think teachers should be trained?

After years in school, i feel as though the characteristics that comprise the best teachers include:
1 being able to relate to and communicate with their students
2 keeping each lesson plan packed with different activities, this way all learning styles are stimulated. Further, if teachers keep applying intriguing new lessons and activities, students will not be bored and thus have little time to get into trouble
3. Respect their students, letting them know that respect is a two way street. That if the teacher respects their students, the students should in turn give them respect. Doing this, students will not want to disrespect and let down their teachers.
4. Relate class assignments and activities to situations students can relate to, such as real life scenarios, this will keep students interested.
