So you think you can teach? Do you know what both teachers, students and parents want in great teaching? I used to think that a lifelong desire to learn, patience and a love of children pretty much summed it up, however, here are the top 10 qualities that make for a great teacher. I'm sure there are more but if you have this going on, you'll go a long way to develop the academic and social life of students.
You left out one of the most important skills required by "great" teachers. They need to have knowledge of, and the ability to, develop, administer, score, and interpret teacher-made assessments, and must possess knowledge of the technical qualities of standardized assessments, as well as how to administer them and interpret the scores. Too many teachers set great objectioves and work hard to meet them, and then develop poor-quality assessments that bring down the moral of students, as well as the moral of the teacher, because the teacher feels he or she did not do a good job of teaching.
I like the list. I work with college kids and I believe there is a lot to this list. Take it for what it is, a list. If it were more detailed, it would be easier to find fault.

Students don't care how much you know ... they want to know how much you care ... you can't fake it!! "Naked Nomad - Mr. Who?'

It's a fairly comprehensive list, with qualities worth striving toward.

Out of the seven teachers depicted in the collection of photos, all are white females. Anyone ever hear of diversity?

Number 9 is true in the "passion for teaching" department, but not all teachers teach children.
