I am an intern in ECH/SPED in Arkansas and will graduate in May 2010. I am so ready to complete this phase of my life and step into teaching children with special needs. I have volunteered as long as I can, I need to get some form of a paycheck coming in for my family. I live in Arkansas and there is a great shortage of Special education teachers available for our special needs children, but I still worry about the jon seeking process.

As literacy Educators for the children and Adults in our communities in the Sub Sahara Africa we are faced with challenges which include a lack of the reading culture by our people. It is said,"if you would like to hide anything from them, hide it in Books".This simply means that when anything is written in books it is very rear for my people to know it because they have no reading culture.I ask the Western World to train many of us so that we could also train others in developing this reading culture.I come from Kabwe,in the Central Province of Zambia and would like feedback to my comment.

I'm a single mother of three, teaching as an adjunct at two community colleges and assisting in laboratories to make ends meet. I'm applying to grad schools to finish up my graduate degree, but I don't know how how I'm going to balance it all! Anyone been in a similar situation, or know someone who has?

I love the articles and the sharing of ideas with other teachers. We are a global community in and outside the classroom. Its nice to talk with other teachers and admistrators, sharing ideas. I really like the polls to see where I stand on issues in and outside of my profession. Teaching is a 24/7 profession, that does not stop once you leave the classroom. Its nice to know we have a online support system that is always there for us.

Since recently I've joined Apple, but learned a lot .Articles on various topics have broaden my outlook on teaching aspect ,what are the common mistakes we make unconsciously and confuse and underestimate the bright -stars of future. Came to know how a single word, line, comment,or expression affect the capabilty of children.A well- informed educated teacher can make a difference in the life of a student along with parents.

I used to teach levels 8,9, and 10 reading classes, and I'd have to say that my favorite books were the level 8 books. We read A Wrinkle In Time by Madeleine L'Engel, The Westing Game, which was a favorite of mine as a child, Tuck Everlasting, and Night of the Twisters which was recommended to me by a student. I love reading children's/ young adult novels... they are so well written and descriptive.

This is an opportunity to win books through The Apple. I need books to read to children and older adults, especially children who are starting to read and ask questions about what the book is about and its characters..

I have been reading this blog since it was mentioned on theapple.com last summer. As stressful as my job is, the hilarious dialogue is the perfect way to relax. This way, I can take it with me anywhere.

Our district in CA has recently reduced even more from the yearly budget, including classroom expenses. I would love to win free books and save from using my own funds again.
