Sheila J. Harkatz
Sheila J. Harkatz was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina and came to the United States in 2002. Multicultural, trilingual (Spanish, English and Hebrew), and a born-teacher, her background and experience in preschool and Primary education both in the US and Latin America make of her a sensitive and inclusive educator. She holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Education and ESOL, and holds certifications in Jewish Education and as a trainer of the Department of Children and Families of South Florida. She is also a candidate for a Master’s degree in Education in Organizational Learning and Leadership. Sheila is right now employed in a school in North Miami Beach, FL teaching in 1st grade. In her spare time, she loves reading, writing Education articles and children’s stories, conducting research on Sociology of Education and critical thinking, oil painting, traveling, and practicing Yoga and meditation.
Judie Haynes
Judie Haynes, an ESL teacher from New Jersey, USA, has more than 28 years of teaching experience. In addition to her classroom work, she has authored and co-authored five books on ESL, co-written a chapter for TESOL’s Integrating Standards into Classroom Practice and am contributing a column for Essential Teacher magazine. She is also the author of EverythingESL and presents workshops to classroom teachers all over the U.S.
Pat Hensley
Pat Hensley retired after 27 years of teaching in the classroom. She currently teaches graduate courses as an adjunct instructor for Furman University. She was chosen 2006 Teacher of the Year for her school and a district Top 10 Finalist (out of 5000 teachers). She is Nationally Board Certified as an Exceptional Needs Specialist and is on the National Board of Directors for the Council for Exceptional Children. The Knowles Science Teaching Foundation
The Knowles Science Teaching Foundation (KSTF) was established by Janet H. and C. Harry Knowles in 1999 to strengthen the quality of science and mathematics teaching in United States high schools. Victor Lana
Victor Lana is a native of New York City, where he has studied acting, writing, and literature. He received a doctorate in English from St. John’s University, New York, and has taught at every level in education. Many of his stories and articles have been published in print and online magazines. He had authored A Death in Prague (2002), Move (2003) and The Savage Quiet September Sun: A Collection of 9/11 Stories. His new novel, Like a Passing Shadow will be available soon. Daniel Loan
Daniel A. Loan has been in education for the past thirty years at Denver Academy, a unique private school, which is focused on developing the intellectual, social, physical and moral potentials of students with learning differences. Through the years, Mr. Loan has been a classroom teacher, Head of high school, Director of Boarding, Dean of School and Director of Admissions. Currently Mr. Loan is a member of Senior Staff and the Director of Communications and Enrollment.
Mr. Loan has consulted for Project Intercept, a teacher training program that has been implemented in school districts in New York, Texas, Louisiana and the Virgin Islands. He has also coached baseball, basketball and soccer.
He earned his B.A.in Education from the University of Northern Colorado, Kappa Delta Pi Honors Society.
Victoria Lovejoy
Victoria Lovejoy has been an administrator and educator for more than twenty years. She has worked at both public and private schools at grade levels ranging from Kindergarten through Junior College. Dr. Lovejoy has a BA in Biology, a Master’s in Secondary Math and Science Education, and a doctorate degree in Education Technology from Pepperdine University.
Dr. Lovejoy is the new director of PODetc (Professional Online Development from the Educational Technology Community).
Jenny Luca
Ms. Luca is the head of Information Services at Toorak College in Mt.Eliza, a suburb of Melbourne, Australia. She’s fascinated by Web 2.0 applications and their potential in educational settings. She’s currently involved in the International Cohort of Powerful Learning Practice, a job-embedded professional development initiative begun by Sheryl Nussbaum-Beach and Will Richardson. Ms. Luca assisted them in the formation of the Australian arm of this cohort and Toorak College has been the host school for face to face meetings.
